Lol, two stupid questions.
How can I tell what kind of axles and differential my Cherokee has ('98 Cherokee 2Dr. Sport)

And my front bumper doesn't have mounts for my license plate. Should I just drill some holes? Or do they have mounts?

Thanks for putting up with my ignorance hah.

Here are the rear diffs and all XJs that are 4WD have a D30 from the factory. There is a plastic tag bracket that supports the front tag.

At least for mine, it says it on the rear differental. For the license plate, i have a mount that raps around the edges of the plate and screws into the bottum of the bumper im sure you could find them at a hardeware store or something

BlueXJ has the axles covered.

I have a couple extra license plate mounts for the stock bumper on a Cherokee. They go for about $20 on E-bay. Send me a PM, I will sell you one for cheap.

It was in the earlier years, You could order a Cherokee from the factory with almost any options you wanted. That is why there are often some odd things found on a Cherokee now and then. All the rules are suspended with special order Cherokees.

For the older models, yes, they received the Dana 44. I think the year range was 87-90. Yours will have the Dana 35 or Chrysler 8.25 stock. Do you have ABS? If so you have the Dana 35. If not, you have the Chrysler 8.25.

I mounted my front tag on my Surco so someone on here needed a tag bracket and I shipped my old stock one to him for the cost of the shipping.

Yeah, that is pretty much what I would do.

I don't know how I ended up with a couple of these especially since I don't need a front plate.
