Pretty sure you don't do that. I think you just take off the negative cable for a little bit, but not sure if that's all. I've heard you take the negative off and touch it to the positive while the positive is still attached. Anyone??

On second thought, you may be right. I just read that you take both terminal cables off and touch them together for at least 10 seconds. Sorry to doubt you. But I wanna make sure this is correct

Pull the pcm fuse for 15 min
or take the battery off "don't matter what side" and turn on the headlights and hit the brakes

Take your pick but don't touch the leads to gether, I have heard the pcm hold enough charge to damage it if the wires touch. Some say it don't I for one will not risk it.

You would reset the pcm to clear codes in most cases, but some do it after cleaning a Maf or replacing a o2 sensor, etc etc. Clearing the pcm will reset the long term fuel trims to help relearn the new sensor or cleaned sensors.

Sounds good, but what is the corrrect way to reset the pcm?? I disconnected the negative battery terminal for about 15 min, is that the correct way, or is there more to it?

Usually 15min is enough, however if you're trying to clear a code you need to use a scaner the obd2 systems have a better abillity to retain codes. What are you looking to gain from this?

to reset your ecu is un hook the negative battery cable and turn your key and lights on for about ten secounds then turn evrything back off and hook cable back up and its reset
