Have you put a chevy 350 in an XJ?
I was talking with a buddy of mine last night and the conversation turned to more horsepower...don't they all. Anyway he suggested that I just drop a 350 in my jeep and let the good times roll. Anyone ever done this? Would it be a hard swap? (engine/tranny) Thanks in advance for input.

I've seen it done before. I would imagine it's a fairly intense install. I would imagine you would need to use the chevy tranny and transfer case as I don't think the factory cherokee ones would be strong enough (not even sure if there is an adapter to mate a 350 to the cherokee transmission). You would more than likely need to upgrade at least the rear axle as well assuming you have the D35.
I'm actually debating on looking into this further as well. A 350 / tranny / t-case can be had for relatively inexpensive.

Hard is relative to A. fabrication skills B. depth of pockets C. amount of spare time you have. Its been done plenty of times Adavanced Adapters sells some of the parts. http://advanceadapters.com/product/2288/713109.html
