Bad fuel pump seal, could it cause stalling?
The previous owner said that my xj needs a fuel pump seal, and that if you fill it more than half way it will leak.
He also told me that it stalls sometimes due to the faulty seal.
I've driven the jeep for about a week now and up to tonight it has only stalled once (about 100 miles.) Tonight on my way home it stalled twice. I drove it the rest of the way home and no stalling (8 miles).
Does this like a problem the seal would cause?
I've got the seal and I will be changing it in the next week. (Any tips?)

Good Question ?? I dont know for certain but :
What do you do to recover? Will it start right back up?
Where is the leak? At the pump/tank?
If the pump looses pressure due to sucking some air, I would think it might stall. But start right back up??
Wait for the experts to chime in..

well while changing the seal you shouldn't have to drop the gas tank i'm not sure how the 91 and up xj's are but i changed the fuel pump and gasket on the side of the road in a matter of an hour cause the opening for the fuel pump is located in the front of the tank so if you rest your head on the diff cover you can see it and work right there
