I just fitted some 500 fogs at the weekend and it does look much better for it. I had factory ones on before hand so just used the factory fog wiring and mounting holes so can't help you much there. But here's a couple of pic to inspire you.

Understand that Spanish? The diagram is good, just needs some English for those of us who are not bilingual.
I would make one suggestion though. I would put a circuit breaker, it is just a little rectangular box with two terminals on it in front of the relay instead of a fuse. That way i you end up with a short it is easier to find. Also a good place to get power on an XJ is off the large terminal on the starter relay on the right fender next to the battery.

It is a good diagram. I personally don't have any trouble with it even though I don't speak Spanish. But some might. No offense meant.

Here's my guess
Luces = Wires
Tierra = Ground
Bateria = Battery
Switch = Switch (deerrrrr)
Rele' = Relay
That diagram helps alot actually
Here is another good diagram I found. Just a universal one
