I'm getting wet carpets and I know it's from the A/C, but I can't find the drain line!

I've looked under the dash and under the vehicle, but I can't find it.

Anybody have an answer?

it's a 95 grand.

It cost me over $800.00 to fix mine on my 95 GC. They had to fix to things on mine and it quit leaking. Dealership was the only one I could find to fix mine. It works great though now

on my gc it is under the the carpet of the passenger floorboard against the firewall

Im a little confused. Why would the ac drain under the carpets?

It drains through the floor at that point.

Don't over look the windshield........Both my 93 GC and 95 GC had leaks at the top right side of the windshield.

The AC condensor is just like a glass of cold water on a humid day. The moisture in the air condenses and then it runs off the evaporator coil and out the drain onto the road.

If the drain tube gets clogged, the box that the evaporator coil is in will fill with condensation. On a very humid day, this can happen at a surprizingly rapid rate!

Once the box fills to a certain level, it begins to leak onto the floor of the car.

After driving for 1/2 hour with the AC on, I have 1" of water on the floor in the back seat!

Mine is that same system except I do not have that plug he removes to stick his antenna in there.

I was about to drill a hole in there and now I guess I will.

But first, I would still like to know where this thing drains OUT of the car! As best as I can tell, it must drain into the frame rail where the rail attaches to the fire wall.

It does on a ZJ. Stupid design if you ask me.
The dealer service dept. supposedly has a tool that will clean it out without drilling any holes. Outrageous charge for the service though.

i did the drilling of the hole and running antenna through but still get an indoor pool with mine haven't yet figured it out yet. as for the drain its in the rail under passenger seat. the first hole in the rail is where the water should drain through

I recently was having the same problem in my 97 GCL and I also drilled the hole out and pushed the antenna through to clean out the line and it still leaked after I plugged the hole. My father-in-law and I worked on it one day last week and discovered the gasket between the firewall and black condensor case is foam and it was trash. We ran the heater for a little while and then made sure the area was dry and then we put some automotive caulk around the condensor housing going through the firewall and WOW it is fixed. I guess my best advice would be to just make sure it is good and dry before you apply any kind of caulk or epoxy so it will make a good seal.

but doesn't the housing run all the way out through the firewall or does it stop at the firewall.what kind of caulking did you use and how did you get it in there cause its very limited space between housing and firewall

Im not for sure how far the housing runs but I removed all the carpet and padding from behind the housing. I cut out the black padding from behind the housing and it gave me enough room to caulk all the way around the hole.
The caulk I used was just some old automotive caulk my father-in-law had laying around in his garage(the kind in the tube you have to pull off the dryed up part off the top) but i think any type of silicone or epoxy would do the job as long as you get it good and dry before you apply it. Its been almost 2 weeks and I'm still dry and been running my air constantly.
