Default 98 xj stalling after it rains or gets wet -__-

So about a week ago it rained pretty hard I went to start the xj and it was struggling had to have my foot on the gas pedal to get it started. Anyway waited till the next day for everything to dry off and it start fine, no problems what so ever it idles good and smooth.

Now today I went to the car wash and the car wash broke down lol so I was stuck inside and the car started to act up the rpms started to fluctuate and then it died on me. Tried starting it a few times and nothing I waited for a bit and finally it cranked over and drove it out.

As soon as i drove it out I opened up the hood to see if anything was wet and everything looked dry.

So any ideas what this could be as its really annoying me. Also when I got it home i revved the engine and around 2k-3k rpms it would just cut me off and the engine would kinda like sputter it wasent smooth. So now its dry again and it works fine no problems I can rev it and its good.

Iv been reading it could be the tps, map, or cps sensor that causes this. But I dont see how it could be the tps or map as everything under the hood was dry. What else could it be ?

had this problem with a 2000 chevy astro van. ended up being the ignition coil. every time it rained it would act up and car wouldn't start. didn't need to be soaked or real wet for it to happen just a little moisture in the air on a rainy day would cause the no start condition.

My older Dodge and Plymouth would do this pretty often in damp weather.

Was usually inside the distributor cap having moisture...

I keep ignition spray if it happens...

hmm well thats weird I replaced the distributer cap and rotor and I put new spark plug wires as well I did this a while a go but, damn well next time it happens ima check the cap but how does moisture get int there, thought it suppose to be sealed. So what do I need just a new ring on the cap to seal it ? If so I might switch that out to see if I get the problem again or not.
