Fuel Pump Location
I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Country 4.0L. I was wondering where exactly the fuel pump is located? Is it an in-tank electric fuel pump or out of tank fuel pump.

Just about any fuel injected vehicle is going to have the pump in the tank - to help keep it cool.
Slide under and check your fuel tank. If you can see the plate where the lines enter and exit, you can probably pull the pump without dropping the tank. On RENIX rigs (1987-1990,) the access plate is in the top half of the tank, centre front.
Use a brass hammer and brass drift when locking/unlocking the lock ring! Sparks would suck... Also, you'll want to be somewhere below half-full so you don't get fuel all over yourself.
Bear in mind that a fuel tank is more dangerous when it's empty (but not "blown out") than when it's full. Liquid gasoline is just barely flammable - gasoline vapours range from highly flammable to explosive. Ever hear of a fuel-air bomb?

i think on the 96 you will have to drop the tank i be leave it is on the top center of the tank. just use a jack to lower it and you will need the fuel line tool to remove the line from the output line
