Exclamation NO power in Drive?

When I shift into drive, my Jeep has nearly no power to move forward. It baaareelly goes when I give it gas. Reverse works fine, and I can shift into 1-2 to go forward no problem, but 3 and D don't work. What's going on? I need this car!

Go up under the dash on the passenger side. The TCU is located there. In it's harness, wrapped in yellow tape, is an inline fuse for the power to the TCU. REmove it and inspect it.

Cuz that fuse is inline with the power to the Transmission Control Unit aka TCU.

No power, no shifty.

The line that had the fuse in it has a harness at the end that goes to a silver box under the dash and it wasn't all the way in the box. I bet that silver thing is the TCU.

Default Help

Hey guys, Hope everyone is holding up in this crazy time. I have a 91XJ that is pretty modified from the PO. Just today i have little power in Drive or 3rd. Reverse/ Low are fine. Very similar situation to this thread.
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/no-power-drive-130218/
I do not seem have a TCU connected. Rather the yellow/ blue/yellow wires are spliced (pic attached). All yellow go together and all blue/yellow as well. Then they are tied into the black unit which i am not sure what to call that has a jumper conductor between the two. I messed around and made sure everything had a solid connection and swapped in a new fuse/ fuse harness to no avail. Anyone have any insight? It was running fine last time i started it, all i did in between was swap in some new speakers and did not mess with that harness at all. I appreciate any info you might have.

Here is a picture of what i believe was the TCU but it is not connected to anything, just wires spliced.

You might get more response if you start a new thread rather than hijacking an old one.

I don't consider it highjacking if the OP was resolved and the new post is a similar question. Ultimately there ends up being fewer threads to search through.
