Low coolant
On the way in to work this morning the information center above the rear view mirror on my 2001 GC showed a coolant low message,......... What exactly does that mean? Am I just a bit low? Dangerously low? I just bought my GC a couple months ago and I'm new to the Jeep world since I've never owned one so I'm still learning. Does it take any special coolant? Anything I should know about before I check it? It's still dark this morning and I didn't check it when I got here to work. I'll do it right after work but would like to know a few things before then. Any tips or tricks?
Thanks in advance,
RIZ

My guess is it's low.
Kidding aside, just check the bottle level. Add coolant accordingly. I'm not sure if being a 2001 it takes Green, or GL5 (Gold). I'll check when I get to work.
Regardless, make sure to make a mental notation of when you filled it and with about how much. Then, if the alert ever comes on again, and theres the possibility of a coolant leak, you'll already have an idea how much of a leak you potentially have.

my 99 did this for the first few weeks i had it what generally happens is someone did not properly burp the system for air and it then pulls from the reserve tank to maintain cooling I used the GOLD and have not had a issue since

Ok, so here's an update.......... I remove the radiator cap and start it up. It starts out real close to the top then slowly climbs until it steadily dribbles over thes happens for the next 10-15 minutes of running. My reservoir is also full. The information center above my rear view mirror still shows low coolant ?????? What the heck ?!?!?!?!?!

bad coolant level sensor? If this sensor is a on/off sensor you could short the wires and then the low coolant are gone, i think. I think the sensor are in the reservoir, i dont have any sensor on my car so you dont need one.

Is that the electrical connection on top of the reversoir? Is the wiring an overall issue with these? I have a driver's side rear brake light out too that I can't figure out. I replaced the bulb even though it looked good and after tugging on the wires a bit I got it to work but now it's not working again. All the other lights work but the brake light. The running lights work. The way the wires go into the body, they can't be accessed? I'm confused.

I let the Jeep sit all day Saturday and most of the day Sunday. I went out there around 3pm and removed the radiator cap without the vehicle running and it was almost right to the top. I don't think i could have added more than a capfull of coolant. The reservoir is up to the top line on the bottle/ jug. I'm assuming the coolant sensor is bad. How much are they?
