Been working on this tire carrier for my xj. I'm just about done! Also made a basket from angle and expanded metal for the jeep. It'll come in handy for camping and fishing trips.

It is... The drum and the gussets are 1/2 inch thick, the shaft is 5/8 wall dom tubing and the flange plate is 1 inch thick

Yes. TIG welded entire thing and used MIG to weld the internal supports
