Haha, damn fine pasties too
Bugaboo, I live in Plymouth at uni 5 days a week, so I'm even closer! In fact I'm on the Torpoint ferry in my Jeep right now!
Just give me a shout if you ever need a hand with anything!

That's a reasonable distance to have moved! I can't say that I particularly love Plymouth either, but it serves a purpose whilst I'm at uni there!
Where in Plymouth did you used to live? I knew the locations of a few XJs in the city, so am wondering if yours was one of them!

then push rod popped out, that's done now loud tapping noise, it's at the garage for another vacation.
Hate to say it but wish I had bought 4.0, despite extortionate fuel costs here.

Introducing myself. I'm new to the UK (Oxfordshire) and will be here for about two years. I didn't bring my Cherokee with me but put it in storage. While here I'd like a project vehicle twenty five years old or older so I can take it back home to the States if I decide to do that. A Brit friend of mine back in the States suggested a Ford Cortina, found they are pricey. Maybe a Mini? I'm open to ideas, what do you think, suggestions please? My 2000 Cherokee is setup for rock crawling and gets used quit regularly for that back in VA. The latest project was the install of an Atlas II transfer case, great project, allot of fun. Here's a link to that install thread, https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/at...lation-190099/.
Anyway, Hi.

Project car
Hi Rockhead - that XJ of yours looks great, mine's a straightforward workhorse, 4.0 ltr. Classic - drinks fuel but it's brilliant and reliable, does all I want it to. My hobby car's a 1979 TVR 3000S, only 250 built (if you Google TVR 3000S mine's the first image, pale blue). Been featured in Classic and Sportscar twice now! The older Tiv's are starting to fetch good prices now, so projects are fewer but still around. I suspect they'd be out of your budget. Suggest looking through AutoTrader, there are some good bargains to be had but it all depends on what grabs you - Mini's are great, loads of spares and mods available and plenty of scope to either restore as original or do a replica job on it.
